STEPS TO ICS FIRMWARE,UNLOCK,ROOT and S OFF

I thought this may help some people that had questions ..

These are the steps from beginning to end if you are bone stock and want to make your life alot easier ..

PLEASE read , then read again .

In this order. NOTE: IF YOU ARE ON ICS FIRMWARE (OTA UPDATE) SKIP STEP 1

#1-Flash firmware (Must be Locked)- rename RUU to PH98IMG and place on sd card. Boot into hboot and run update. There will be a long list of items. The first time it runs it will only update a few of them and then reboot. Wait a few minutes and it should boot back to hboot and update rest of items. If after several minutes it does not go back to hboot pull battery and replace and boot to hboot to restart manually. Once all items are updated it will ask you to reboot and boot to stock rom. You are now on stock ICS firmware and rom.

Factory reset in hboot while still stock to ensure data and storage will work properly.

#2- Unlock Command: fastboot flash unlocktoken (drag and drop token here) token obtained from HTCDev.com



#3- Flash Recovery in fastboot- Command: fastboot flash recovery (drag and drop recovery image here) Extracted image below.

#4- Flash rom and obtain root- make sure root apps are able to obtain Super User permissions



#5- Achieve s-off and accept JB-hboot-extract Control bear zip to desktop. Connect usb cable to phone while booted to rom. Double click main Control Bear icon to start procedure and follow screen prompts on PC. Start wire trick when prompted. If it takes and says still sober just exit and restart Control Bear. When s-off is obtained it will ask you if you want custom hboot. Say yes and it will flash and you will be done with a working rom and fully up to date firmware and radios. Correct s-off software below.

There are different wires that can be used. I used a bread tie on one. lol Some use large paperclip. Whatever you use make sure it is insulated or wrap with tape. Best is 22 gauge wire about 6" long blunt cut on one end. This end will fit tight in pinhole and allow you to concentrate on trick without holding both ends. Force to bottom of hole so that it contacts pin.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? I'm in the process of unlocking my bootloader, and I already have my unlock code, but I can't load it. I feel pretty stupid with fastboot, adb, etc. as I never needed to use any of that to root and s-off my Incredible 2, so I'm the learning process.. Anyways, I have the Unlock_code.bin file in C:\Android-SDK\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools which has adb, fastboot, etc. but I get this:

C:\Users\David> C:\Android-SDK\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools\fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
error: cannot load 'Unlock_code.bin'

I pretty sure I didn't misplace the file as instructions said to save the file in the same place as the fastboot files, but I'm not 100% sure.. Any help would be greatly appreciately though! Thanks

Just put it in ur Android folder..by the looks of it u have it barried in other folders.

If you place it in the android folder makes it easier to do ... then just Click,drag and drop

Strange.. I found I was doing it right (as I thought), but the program is picky.. If I open CMD off my computer and run the commands, it won't load the files (Unlock and recovery).. But if I open the files when set to open in CMD, then they work? Trial and error it was. Haha

This would be a good question. It would definitely be a long video LOL. Im sure jlyle can conjure something up since he thinks, er, um, claims he is the local rez guru LOL HAHAHA
