Now I'm am looking into ooma. Slick deals has refurbs for 99 and a new one from office max for 120. They still have taxes and fees but looks to be like 4$ in my new city. San Francisco would be almost 7$. Not bad.

I do like the second option in the link jade gave as it looks totally free but ooma seems more reliable.

I'm still confused with googlevoice. I logged in on a pc and it says shows a different number then what showed on my wife's caller Id. My guess is that is a number from groove? Also not sure how to force google voice to chat. Google chat already comes up as my phone when logged in with pc.

Not sure if I need 911 for the pregnancy as they have us call in labor and delivery directly.

Hmm lots of options here. I feel as ooma is going to release a New version soon due to all the deals now.

What do you guys feel is better. A refurb for 99 or new for 120 for the ooma. I'm asking only about initial cost and refurb or not here.

I don't know much about Ooma, so I'll leave that to you to read up on with the Slickdeals link I previously posted. As for Google Voice, you really should get on a PC and go through all the settings they have in there. There are a lot of choices and it can get pretty confusing sometimes. If you go through them and still have questions, hopefully I can help. I've been using it for a while now, so I'm fairly familiar with it.

I guess that would have been included in the "etc." part of my post . Valid point though.

    Re: Changing Life

Thanks jade, yeah I probably should have set it up at a pc. Too bad I packed mine already.

Honestly I don't care too much about incoming calls or voicemail at this time. It's more just to make sure she can call me.

I do really like the idea of ooma, I read a bunch of reviews but not the wiki. It seems a lot of places are raising prices. My new city still seems to be cheap. Though its still way cheaper looking then Vonage.

Been so busy I really haven't looked into this anymore since my last post. So I don't know. Her phone does seem to work better there then mine does so I think we will be ok.

My wife tells me though that she really can't get any data while at work. This kinda bums me out thinking I should have waited until after we moved to buy a new phone. It's important to me to have phones that work at home and work since this is where we are most of the time. I would switch to a different carrier for it.

I don't know, I'm sure it will all work out fine. I'll let you guys know which way I decide to go. Prob gonna get the ooma, just not sure when.

    Re: Changing Life

So this weekend went really well.

We hired some movers. 3 Irish dudes from the big leprichon. Wow they knocked it out in 4 hours including driving accross the bay bridge. I couldn't believe how they carried boxes. They would grab 3 behind their back and then cruise down 2 flights of stairs. Really nice guys, well worth the money.

Did my walk through on my apartment yersterday and gave back the keys. That felt really good to get done. I was worried cause of all the trouble some neighbors have told me about. Though I think some people make things harder on themselves.

My landlord emailed me Saturday afternoon to confirm the time. He told me that as long as there was no significant damage I would get my full deposit back. Less a cleaning fee I opted to pay cause I just have too much stuff going on right now. He said I was a great tennant, easy to deal with and he wouldn't care about the little things. Plus I had been there for 10 years.

My wife asked me why I cared about making things easier on him before we moved. I said its not for him its for me, it just so happens to help him. She understood after the walk through of how nice he was to us and didn't care about our little damages.

Ahh, hard weekend number 1 done

I'm with you on making it easy on them because in the end, if they are a good person, they will make it easy on you. I always hated doing walk throughs at apartments, always feel like you are going to get cheated/scammed.

Happy all went well for you man, I bet it's a relief to be done with it.

I feel like I have been freed I was stressing the move and the walk through. I had been there a long time and new I had ****ed a few things up. Like a hole in a closet door from my wife kicking it. We patched that up a while back though. I don't even think he saw it.

I think I also know why my reception gets so bad at the new place. Well its pretty weak in general but when ever a plane takes off it causes a warp in the space time continuum and my phone drops dead. Takes a few minutes to come back, just in time for another plane to take off... Lol. I noticed it was the planes when I saw my tv signal drop out when a plane took off, ota tv. We live right next to Oakland airport but our place is well insulated and you barely hear planes unless windows are open.

LOL...That's interesting. I grew up fairly close to St. Louis airport so we had them flying over all the time, however that was back in the day of this.

Which I might add my parents just replaced in April. That tv was probably 25 years old. LOL

    Re: Changing Life

Yeah my parents house was sorta in the flight path for ohare airport in Chicago. It wasn't bad at all as we were pretty far away. Now we are basically at the end of the runway. We are also using crappy rabit ear type of an antenna.

So I figured out how to get 3g reception on the LTE.

Turn on WiFi hotspot of wife's og EVO and share its 3g connection with my LTE. Simply awesome. Way to go EVO 4g

Actually that's pretty sad. Oh well at&t uverse is supposed to get installed tomorrow.
