• Updated Google Maps v7.0.0

    Google Maps
    So it seems Google Maps received a Major overhaul. It lost a few features, and gained a few. One of the things that didn't make the cut was Latitude. You can check out all the info in the first link below. That link also has the links for downloads. The second link is for more info, and a few tips.

      It's actually quite nice. They've cleaned up the UI a lot.

      I used it on someone else's phone and I'm not so into it personally. Just like the new Web interface, they cleaned it up but took away some features I used and liked.

      Please say you saved a backup. I can't handle this update any longer. I got the update right away. It's been an annoyance ever since. But now I am out of town and trying to use navigation... Such a fail. Wrong directions, poor directions. It won't stay on nav, we keep having to restart it and then we sometimes select a different route. Then maps just crashes all together. I actually had to back down an entrance ramp to a tollway, kinda my fault for deciding to go with the turn but I was already frustrated. But we had no change and in a borrowed car with no toll tag, unmanned toll.

      Grrr.. So passed at it right now. I feel like I have an I phone or something.

      I've got you covered . Here's a link to version 6.14.4. Also, mine used to crash all the time too, until I added this line to my build.prop:
      Code:
      sys.keep_app_1=com.google.android.apps.maps
      Maybe try that and see if it helps. It's not perfect, but it's exponentially better than what it used to be.

      p.s. I'm also working on modding a version so it can be installed alongside the new one, but there's a lot of work that needs to be done for that.

      Thanks man

      I'm going to run this without the build prop edit first. Yesterday was the first time maps crashed on me. It crashed on both my wife's phone and mine. I want to test it out a little first. I won't need nav as much for the rest of the trip now that we found the hotel, so a crash is not so critical like yesterday.

      I think that's a good idea you're working on.

      Well now that I finally finished the summer semester, I may have a bit more time on my hands for the next few weeks. We'll see what happens .
