• HTC Suspending Develop on Select Models

Tired of the constant influx of new smartphones by HTC?
Are you tired of the constant push of new smartphones from HTC or the fact that the best HTC phone on the market isn't on your carrier, its seems as though that may be a thing of the past. According to an htcsource.com article, HTC is suspending the development of several models of their phone line in an effort to emphasize on creating one solid phone for all carriers (HTC M7 maybe).

Personally I think this is great news and a great move for HTC and should definitely boost their sales. It works well for the iPhone and the SGS3, so I'm sure it will work well for HTC.

What do you think? Do you think it will be good or bad for HTC? Why do you think it will be good or bad for them? How do you think it will effect android development?

    Speak up, lets hear it.

I think it'll be good for them for sure. Seems like most customers on other carriers that buy HTC phones tend to want the one similar to the EVO. If their all similar or the same and theyre available on all carriers they'll sell more for sure. However, as nice as identical hardware is for the development and variety of accessories I would like to see sprint retain a slight variation of the mold in the form of a EVO. It has been a tried and true name for Sprint over the past few years and would do ok no matter what. Aside from that, the extra features the Sprint model receives over the other varients like the Sd card slot and the kickstand are always welcome additions for most and have no adverse effect on the sales of the device in my oppinion.

That would be a great thing for HTC to do because of the "lack" of a single solid phone all across the board...it will also give them an edge in the competitions with the Iphone and SGS3 etc.

More advertising wouldn't hurt either, just look at all the SGS3 ads. I think that they just don't do a good enough job of marketing so not enough people know about their products. Being better only helps if you know that the better thing exists.

Very true, I think there's an article here on the mik about things they are doing to change their advertising.

They hired a new marketing guy, I think. I just hope he's good.

Sounds like what HTC intended to do with the onex. Let's just hope that HTC sticks to their gun and doesn't let carriers push them into making specific models. Though I think this last year has shown that that isn't necessarily a good thing for carriers.

Personally I think it's a great idea. I find really annoying to find a limited choice on accessories or at least have to wait longer for their release. Especially for a flagship model. Should also help speed up the software ware update process.

Although, if you noticed, all 5 (?) models of the SGS3 got their JB update at different times. They were close, but not the same.

Yeah I noticed, they still have carrier specific software or at least bloatware. But it should speed up the process.

This is true. They did all get JB relatively quickly and almost at the same time as each other.
